VILLAGE OF MUIR NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING FOR MICHIGAN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG) FUNDING FOR THE VILLAGE OF MUIR WATER SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS
The Village of Muir will conduct a public hearing on February 4, 2020 at 6:45pm at the Village Offices, 122 Superior Street, Muir, MI for the purpose of affording citizens an opportunity to examine and submit comments on the proposed application for a CDBG grant.
The Village of Muir proposes to request $1,275,000 in CDBG funds to replace approximately 6,500 feet of aging and undersized water main in the following locations:
• Garden Street from Liberty Street to Plains Street
• Prospect Street from Ionia Street to Plains Street
• Cliff Street from Ionia Street to Liberty Street
• Superior Street from Liberty Street to Plains Street
• Plains Street from Superior Street to Garden Street
The work outlined above represents the final phase of water system improvements in the Village. The Village of Muir will provide $425,000 in funding to complete the $1,700,00 project, which will be coordinated with MDOT funding for additional road improvements on Superior Street and Plains Street. The water system improvements will improve overall system reliability, resiliency, water quality and reduce maintenance costs, benefitting at least 51% low to moderate income persons. As the project is located entirely within the public right of way, no persons will be displaced as a result of the proposed activities.
